Jupiter, Pete, and Bob live in Rocky Beach, a fictional southern California coastal town described as 10 to 12 miles from Hollywood and 15 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Jupiter's family owns and operates the Jones Salvage Yard ("the Yard"), where the team's headquarters is hidden in an old trailer, which itself is hidden amid the "junk." There are several ingenious secret entrances (ie. Tunnel Two, Door Four...etc). The trailer's equipment includes a telephone, a darkroom, a filing cabinet, and a workshop in which Jupiter assembles devices, mostly from discarded items found in the junk yard, which help the Investigators in their detective work. The team often has to pay for what they take by working for Aunt Mathilda, a hard taskmaster who believes "idle" boys should be put to work.

Jupiter has designed a business card to intrigue their potential clients, memorable to readers particularly for its three question marks. These potential clients often ask what the question marks stand for, giving Jupiter an opening to impress them with his explanation. The boys' patrons usually did no more than introduce them to cases, meet again with them at the end of a particular adventure, and sometimes refer them to specialists such as a supernatural. At no point is it ever suggested that the patrons provided the Investigators funding in their work.

The Three Investigators solve cases by doing research (Bob's speciality), active observation (Pete's speciality), and clever deduction (Jupiter's speciality). Though the boys are both younger and lack the resources and connections of fellow fictional detectives The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, they have found ways to compensate or ignore these handicaps. Though too young to drive, the Three Investigators soon acquire reliable transportation in the form of a Rolls Royce limousine driven by British chauffeur Worthington. Jupiter won the use of the limousine for "thirty days, of twenty-four hours each" after winning a promotional contest held by the rental agency, soon before beginning their investigation of The Secret of Terror Castle. Despite Jupe's argument that the wording "thirty days of twenty-four hours each" meant that the boys should have the use of the Rolls Royce for the equivalent of 30 full days (or 720 hours), the Rent-N-Ride Auto Agency briefly ended their use of the limo in The Mystery of the Fiery Eye. Fortunately, a grateful client arranged for the boys to have access to the car whenever they needed it. Nevertheless, although Worthington became a confidante and a supporter of the boys' work, the limo's use grew rare in later books.

After proving their reliability, the Investigators received a green card from Rocky Beach police chief Samuel Reynolds, which identified them as junior deputies cooperating with the Rocky Beach police. They used this credential occasionally to convince others they were serious detectives.

i love goanwap and i love love love 3 investigators. i rather am like Jupe , both brainy and kind of fat. the stories take us to a new world, a world of mysteries . they r not as old as nancy drew and hardy boys but i think they're better.

I grew up on these books in the 80s and now I want my children to read them too. But they are all missing at the library. now even I can catch up on the most recent editions as well as having the entire colection (eagerly await book 43 :-)) available to my children. Many, many thanks!!! I loved the books from reading the first from a bookshop in West Whickham in the early 70's, but never got to read them all & copies went missing during moves. Cool, cool, cool! :-))) I loved the three investigators as a kid, reading their adventures in German. Reading them again now in English gives a whole new perspective on some details, since the German translation differs significantly in some of the books. Thank you so much for making these available!

I request everyone to share whatever books they have - at least in the series mentioned on the site as of now. Personal request for all secret seven ebooks from me. as a child i used to collect these titles but since i lived in a small town many titles were missed thx 2 u i ultimately have more or less the full collection so i thank u infinitely u helped me acheive my dream which i thought was not going to fulfill.i m sure my younger brother will also say the same as he is also a big fan of tti.

sorry to interupt but i see few books that been upload, now using a new version which is no more alfred hitchcock. is the rest of the story still the same ? i still love the original. anyhow thank for share it with me.

Hi, Thanks for reawakening my youth! I had plumb forgot about the Alfred Hitchcock books, Strange since they were my favourite as a todler. A Reread a few so far an Find them like strolling down memory lane. Also, I didn't realize how good they were. I hadn't forgotten Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, But I had set them aside in my mind--I wouldn't exactly call them great mysteries, But they are intriguing and thrilling adventures none-the-less. I'm not sure I've ever heard of Enid Blyton though, But I do recollect when I was very-very young Reading mysteries about some kids and a dog--I haven't read any of those books yet--there's so many of the Hardy boys and Alfies to go through asa yet. I do wish I could write like these people though, I've tried to write but all I manage doing is construct a few--not so very good--poems, I tried to write a horror story and all I ended up with is a 16 paged poem in blank verse [Iambic Pentameter]--Same thing with a few science fiction stories; only they are about 10 pages long. At some point I hope to succeed--writing stories like the three investigators, or possibly like the Doc Savage and Shadow novels. FAN-TA-STIC man. Considering that some of the stories were fairly defaced and, above all, put in wrong order in the German versions (called "Die Drei Fragezeichen" over here), it is a pleasure to read the originals again. Thank you very much!
